Most of the doctors and fitness experts consider brisk walking and jogging are the best forms of cardiovascular or aerobic exercises. These are commonly suggested to the people as it does not require any special equipment, can be performed anywhere and costs almost nothing.
Cardiovascular exercises are those which force the body to breathe more oxygen for the production of energy by burning fat. Heart beats vigorously for pumping oxygenated blood to different parts of the body, strengthening the heart muscles. This process increases good cholesterol and decreases bad cholesterol which helps in the continuous flow of blood through blood vessels. In other words, cardiovascular exercises increase heart and respiratory rates in turn working on the entire body.
Recent health study conducted by Danish Scientists published in online journal BMJ Open on Oct 8th revealed that it is the intensity of the exercise not the duration that helps in protecting the body from metabolic syndrome (conditions like obesity, hypertension, and excess sugar and cholesterol levels). This study compared physically active and inactive people and concluded that people who are physically active, doing regular intensive exercises are less likely to develop metabolic syndrome. Investigations show that jogging reduces 40% and brisk walking reduces 50% of chances of developing these conditions than simple strolling.
Fast walking and jogging reduces the risks of hypertension, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, obesity and many other killer diseases. It strengthens bones and muscles and slows down the aging process. So this wonder treatment is necessary to improve the quality of life of each and every individual.
