Sudden Cardiac Death happens in people who are active and outwardly health with no known heart diseases or other health problems. But in the 30 percent of cases, it is the first symptom of heart disease. Some of the contributing factors are:
- History of heart attack: 75% of the SCA deaths have shown earlier signs of heart attack.
- Coronary artery disease: Majority (80%) of SCD victims have shown signs of coronary artery disease.
- Overdose on prescription drugs: Medication like tranquilisers and sedatives can cause SCD. Inadequate dosage of legal medications like beta blockers can cause SCD.
